Wheelchair course
The wheelchair course is an extracurricular activity which teaches our students how to control the wheelchair safely by themselves.
The goal of the course is to teach the students about the various parts of their wheelchair and its functions.
We teach them the basics of how to use the wheelchair by themselves, moving forward and backwards, turning and braking.
We put particular emphasis on passing obstacles, as well as moving up a ramp or a slope.
Since using the wheelchair is highly dependent on hand functions, we simultaneously focus on improving strength and dexterity in the hands and fingers.
We do not forget about fun either: at the end of our sessions we always have some time to play.
Music, dancing and various colourful activities see to it that our sessions always have a fun and friendly atmosphere.
The sessions are 45 minutes long, held during the afternoon.
